Dr. Luo has been studying molecular pathology related to human malignancies in the last 25 years. Currently, he is a Professor of Pathology and Director of High Throughput Genome Center at University of Pittsburgh. In the last 17 years, Dr. Luo has been largely focusing on the genetic and molecular mechanism of human prostate and hepatocellular carcinomas. In this period, his group has identified and characterized several genes that are related to prostate cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma, including SAPC, myopodin, CSR1, GPx3, ITGA7, MCM7, MT1h and GPC3. He has characterized several signaling pathways that play critical role in prostate cancer development, including Myopodin-ILK-MCM7 inhibitory signaling, myopodin-zyxin motility inhibition pathway, CSR1-CPSF3, CSR1-SF3A3 and CSR1-XIAP apoptotic pathways, MT1h-EHMT1 epigenomic signaling, ITGA7-HtrA2 tumor suppression pathway, GPx3-PIG3 cell death pathway, AR-MCM7 and MCM7-SF3B3 oncogenic pathways. He proposed prostate cancer field effect in 2002. He is one of the pioneers in utilizing high throughput gene expression and genome analyses to analyze field effects in prostate cancer and liver cancer.

Research interests involve identifying new tumor suppressor genes, oncogenes and tumor markers in prostate cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma using high throughput and comprehensive analyses.

Dr. Adhip P.N. Majumdar received his MS and Ph.D. degrees in Human Nutrition from the University of London, England and D.Sc (Doctor of Science) degree in Gastroenterology from the University of Aarhus, Denmark. Dr. Majumdar has been a Professor at Wayne State University since 1992. He also holds the post of Senior Research Career Scientist at the Detroit VA Medical Center. Over the past several years Dr. Majumdar’s work has been streamlined to uncover the biochemical and physiological pathways governing the growth of gastrointestinal (GI) tract. He has published close to 200 original scientific articles in peer-review journals and a multitude of book chapters and review articles. Dr. Stachenfeld is an Associate Fellow at the John B. Pierce Laboratory and an Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale University School of Medicine. My primary research focus is the impact of reproductive hormones on physiological responses to environmental challenges in women. To this end, my work has emphasized fluid regulatory and cardiovascular responses to exercise and temperature exposure.

Yvone Paterson is Professor of Microbiology in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. As a Professor of Microbiology, Paterson is an active educator and trainer and is the PI of several training grants and programs. Her research is in the field of cancer vaccines where she was the first investigator to use Listeria monocytogenes, as a vector to target tumor-associated antigens to the immune system. She has pioneered the application of this organism in vaccine development for over 20 years. Her laboratory was the first to show that this bacterium could be genetically engineered to target antigens to the MHC class I pathway for antigen processing with the induction of cytotoxic T cells, the first to show that it could provide protective immunity against viral challenge and the first to apply the technology for the immunotherapy of cancer. In partnership with Advaxis Inc., a company she founded in 2002, the Listeria based technology is now in a number of clinical trials. Overall, these trials have shown that Listeria based immunotherapeutics are safe to use in humans and result in significantly prolonged survival and, in some cases, complete and partial remissions.

Yvone Paterson research is in the field of cancer vaccines where she was the first investigator to use Listeria monocytogenes, as a vector to target tumor-associated antigens to the immune system.
