Dr. Kaiser Jamil, PhD. Is Emeritus Scientist, Principle Investigator and the Head of Genetics Department at BMMRC, also Dean, School of Life Sciences, at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Studies (JNIAS), having published more than 290 papers in journals of repute and guided 32 research scholars for PhD degree. During the last decade following her instincts, she has taken up several projects related to human health, for ‘War against Cancer’. Prof. Bisen earned Ph.D in 1972 and was awarded D.Sc in 1981 After his postdoctoral work, he joined as Assistant Professor at Jabalpur University and was elevated as Associate Professor. He then joined at Bhopal University as a Professor of Microbiology in 1985. Prof. Bisen was Visiting Professor at Institute of Environmental and Biological Sciences, University of Lancaster, Lancaster, England and Visiting Research Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences, The University of Illinois at Chicago. He was U.S. National Science Foundation Fellow at University of California at Davis and Barklay to work in the Department of Bacteriology on DNA recombinant technology. Prof. Bisen was WHO/ UNESCO Fellow for One Year at Institute of Microbiology, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Budejovika, Praha, Czechoslovakia; UNESCO/UNDP/ICRO and Hungarian Academy of Sciences Fellow at the Institute of Plant Physiology, Biological Research Center, Szeged, Hungary. He is honoured with Life Time Professorship of Bundhelkhand University, Jhansi, India and with the highest award of the Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, U.P.. He is also Honorary Professor of Biotechnology at Jiwaji University and is currently pursuing his research in the field of Medical Biotechnology as Emeritus Scientist at Defence Research Development Establishment, Defence Research Development Organization, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, Gwalior, India. Professor Bisen is the external scientific advisor to a Barcelona (Spain) based multinational company Biokit involved in the manufacture of Diagnostic kits and also the Chief of Research and Development Centre of an upcoming industry M/s Tropilite Foods based at Gwalior involved in Food Biotechnology developing several innovative products for food industry. Prof. Bisen guided sixty doctoral theses and has to his credit 175 publications in indexed International journals of repute. Over the years Prof. Bisen has been a leader in rapid tuberculosis diagnostics. He served as Director of a Technical Institute and Vice Chancellor of Jiwaji University, Gwalior, India. He is honorary advisor to a number of Technical Instituions in India. Dr. Boothman grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and earned his B.S. at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He did his graduate work in microbiology and immunology at the University of Miami Medical School, where he received his Ph.D. under the mentorship of Dr. Sheldon Greer. His research focused on the biochemistry and pharmacology of anticancer drugs, specifically 5-fluoro-deoxycytidine derivatives. He did postdoctoral research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute of Harvard Medical School with Dr. Arthur B. Pardee. There, he investigated changes in several aspects of cancer cells before and after cell stress: cell cycle checkpoint regulation, molecular biology, and gene expression. His studies on β-lapachone as a radiosensitizer and DNA repair inhibitor began at this time. Dr. Boothman also discovered and cloned the first proteins and transcripts induced by ionizing radiation (IR). Dr. Boothman has trained 16 Ph.D. students, two M.D./Ph.D. students, and more than 40 postdoctoral fellows and residents, who enjoy positions around the nation and in seven different countries and in various aspects of scientific research.

Shahla Masood is a Persian born physician, who currently holds the positions of Professor and Chair of the Department of Pathology at University of Florida College ofrnMedicine – Jacksonville and Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UF Health Jacksonville. Seung-Cheol Lee has completed his PhD from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2001, and has completed his Post-doc at the Korea Basic Science Institute and the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Research Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Pennsylvanis since 2011. His research focus is on imaging cancer metabolism in the cellular level, animal models and human patients using NMR and mass spectrometry.

Jianhua Luo has been studying Molecular Pathology related to human malignancies from the last 25 years. Currently, he is a Professor of Pathology and Director of High Throughput Genome Center at University of Pittsburgh. In the last 17 years, he has been largely focusing on the genetic and molecular mechanism of human prostate and hepatocellular carcinomas. In this period, his group has identified and characterized several genes that are related to prostate cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma, including SAPC, myopodin, CSR1, GPx3, ITGA7, MCM7, MT1h and GPC3. He has characterized several signaling pathways that play critical role in prostate cancer development. He is one of the pioneers in utilizing high throughput gene expression and genome analyses to analyze field effects in prostate cancer and liver cancer. He is also the first in using methylation array and whole genome methylation sequencing to analyze prostate cancer. His group found that patterns of copy number variants of certain specific genome loci are predictive of prostate cancer clinical outcomes, regardless tissue origin. Recently, his group discovered several novel fusion transcripts and their association with aggressive prostate cancer. One of the fusion genes called MAN2A1-FER, was found present in 6 different types of human cancers. He later defined a critical MAN2A1-FER/EGFR signaling pathway that is essential for MAN2A1-FER mediated transformation activity. In addition, his group developed a genome intervention approach to treat human cancers that are positive for fusion gene.

Currently, Dr. Luo's research interests involve identifying new tumor suppressor genes and tumor markers in several human malignancies such as prostate cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, etc. Subsequently, we will direct our effort to evaluate the prognostic values of these genes and markers in making early diagnosis of prostate cancer and serving as drug targets for cancer prevention programs.

Huihuang Yan is an assistant professor in the Division of Biomedical Statistics and Informatics, Department of Health Sciences Research at Mayo Clinic. He received his PhD from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Genetics. As part of the Mayo Clinic Center for Individualized Medicine, his research primarily focuses on cancer genomics and epigenetics and the development of algorithms for analyzing next-generation sequencing data from patients. He has published 50 peer-reviewed articles.

He was on Judah Folkman’s staff at Harvard Medical School for 12 years. He is on the board of directors of the Colon Cancer Alliance and has published more than 60 papers in physics and cancer.
